Body language at work

Body language at work is quite different from social body language.

Non verbal communication in meetings, in presentations and corridor conversations can all have a huge impact on how others look at you.

When most of how we come across is through non verbal communication, or non verbal leakage as we call it, it's handy to know what works and what doesn't.

Smiling - The girl or guy who smiles shows immediately they aren't under pressure, the easiest way for others to see you are handling things very easily.

Stand side by side - Best way to build rapport with a colleague using business body language is to stand side on. They feel you are with them, in rapport, rather than in competition.

Sitting erect - We look more alert and alive when we sit and stand erect.

Don't point - Never point in meetings as it makes people feel accused.

I hope this helps and remember the rules that work out in the real world are the same in business. If you can connect with as many people as possible using work body language, your chances are so much better.
