A lot of people don't really take advantage of these opportunities and it's a real pity.

We have up to 10 hosts at my events, most of which I know previously but I would be more than happy to let a well presented guy or girl to serve a few drinks, help get people together or whatever to get you mingling. Make sure you are well presented as well.

Yes I know it's hard and most people don't like to do it, but those who do are ahead of the pack. Fact is, standing in the corner is not going to help your cause, and you can always move to go to the bar, to ask a host a question or to say hello to someone on their own (they want someone to talk to as well).
