The following flirting mistakes are based on our own research, including workshops where we line up a group of guys and girls, allowing them to flirt, then asking them some pertinent questions.Using this information I was able to come up with the following 'what not to do' list for flirting. Beware of the group - One of the biggest flirting mistakes, girls can attach themselves to a group like a life support, more so if they are particularly interested in a guy. Without knowing it, a lot of girls can find an excuse to break away and make themselves available - if there is nothing riding on it. We just need to remember how hard it is for guys to penetrate the group of girls.Reverse flirting - Some girls can choose to flirt with everyone, except the very guy they are interested in. Sounds familiar you say? Is it little wonder guys have no idea what is going on!Offer unsolicited advice - To quote John Gray of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, "To offer a man unsolicited advice is to presume that he doesn't know what to do or that he can't do it on his own".Don't be unapproachable - A lot of girls seize up and become unapproachable and can put barriers up around themselves. Everyone experiences rejection at some stage and nervous signals can be mistaken for being completely disinterested. Try to get feedback on your own body language, you may be surprised how you come across.Ignore the guy - One of the biggest flirting mistakes I found since starting flirting workshops was most girls interested in a guy, would ignore or give him little attention. Needless to say this approach rarely works.Don't 'Listen' - Many guy complain girls do not always listen. In fact often what a women interprets as connecting by offering immediate feedback or relating a conversation to herself, a man will often interpret this as interrupting or not listening.Be too subtle - There is a famous commercial in Australia, where a beautiful girl flicks back her hair, slides her skirt to show some leg and motions for a guy to come over, meanwhile the camera pans over to the guy looking confused and lost as to what she is doing. Whilst a little exaggerated, we get this feedback constantly - that girls are too subtle.Talk about problems - For us girls, sharing your problems with each other is a sign of bonding, a sign of trust. For a guy however, there is power in working things out for themselves.

Talk about your Ex - Even if it seems so casual and natural to speak about everything - don't speak about everything. This can be one of the bigger flirting mistakes girls don't realise. If you have a need to talk about it, chat with family and friends first or even a counsellor if need be. Very early on, this can show signs of insecurity, bitterness or even longing that can deter a guy.Play cupid - Some girls can try to illicit a guys thoughts by identifying girls in a room the guy might like and engage him in a cupids conversation. Things is, you have just given him the strongest impression you are not interested.Don't despair though, flirting mistakes mean at least you are out there and trying, and believe me that is more important than any guide or flirting tips we can offer. Trust your judgement but remember to learn, improve and have fun with it!
