The Signs of Flirting
Over 90% of signs of flirting are subconscious, the part of us we cannot
control, our signals to the opposite sex that we sometimes cannot stop giving.
These body language signals are also known as our 'non-verbal leakage'
The trick is not to send out a bunch of fake signals but to be relaxed enough to send out the signals that say 'I'm interested' rather than 'I'm terrified' and to be aware so that you can recognise the signals when they are being sent your way!
Signs of flirting you can't hide
N.B Look for 2 or 3 of the following signs to make sure they are truelly flirting.
Flushing of the face - One of the many uncontrollable tell tale signs of flirting. Extended eye contact or an 'I like you' smile can create reactions in someone who is interested in you. If they have had a drink or two some can feel a little more amorous, so it might be best to look for the following signs as well just to make sure. You just never know the real reason.
Micro gestures - Subtle reactions such as twitching of the eyes, dilated pupils, flushing of the skin are almost impossible to hide when we are attracted to someone. Rely on your gut feel on this one.
SIDE NOTE - You are better at reading body language than you may think, just like you can sorta tell when someone is lying or bullshitting a little. If you think they are reacting try leaning in and whispering something to gauge a reaction. Doesn't matter what you say, just make it sound like a secret.
Similiar Vocal Tone - Building rapport through vocal tone is a common subconscious sign of flirting we all do to connect with people around us.
If he or she starts becoming in sync with you, chances are you have the same language patterns. Try pacing the conversation up or down, speaking at different speeds and see if they follow. Chances are if they follow your lead, it could be more of an indication they like you rather than what you are talking about.
Body posture - A good sign to look out for is if they look a bit on show without trying to look like it. Its a more stiff body posture, trying to show high muscle tone to appear like good partner material. We automatically become more rigid, use more of our muscles in posture when we are trying to make a good impression.
Although there are these subconscious signs of flirting, there are in deed the more obvious signs of flirting to look out for.
More obvious signs of flirting
Raised Eyebrows - guys can do this in a 'matey' way, a friendly 'hello' gesture, or to flirt. Girls usually find this surprising but many guys use this to flirt.
Wink - a wink can work or fall flat like a lead balloon. It leaves the recipient in little doubt though!
Look away, look back - girls tend to do this more but guys can be a bit cheeky and shy at the same time. If he looks back again its a very big sign. More than once and he is definitely flirting with you.
Blow a kiss - leaves the recipient in absolutely no doubt they are flirting. This should need little interpretation.
Whether it be obvious or subtle, if you put your detective's hat on and really observe the opposite sex, its surprising what new insights you find and can take advantage of.
